My name is Shannon Duskie and I live in Cawker City, KS.  Population 461 + 1 big ‘ol ball of twine!  The largest ball of sisal twine in the world in fact.

Originally from Kanopolis, another town of about the same size in Kansas.  No ball of twine there – but there is still a drive-in movie theater which is quite a treasure!

Growing up, I attended Ellsworth High School.  Then it was consdered 3A.  About 300 kids in grades 9-12 and graduated in 2006.  I went on to K-State where I did colorguard in the band for 2 years , studied Marketing, Economics & Leadership, and met a super-cool neighbor who I now call my husband!  I really wanted to travel, so I spent a semester in Prague, Czech Republic in 2009.  Upon graduation, I started selling team-apparel for a local company and spent another 2 years in Manhattan.

In 2012, I married the man of my dreams and moved out to the boonies… His hometown, Cawker City.  It took a while… a good while… but I now appreciate so many things about living here and what it has taught me.  I will never again see the convenience the same way.  It’s fascinating, really.  A good gym less than 20 miles away, having the option to go to the grocery store before 7am & having more options than you ever need at there.  The ability to get things for a weekend project on Sunday.  Yet – there are so many things to be thankful for.  Great people & learning to make your own fun.  Walking to church because it’s practically in your back yard and a having beautiful lake less than a mile away.

I now work remotely from my home for the same company and involve myself in more community activities than I can sometimes handle.
